Mermaid Signature Production, LLC

We are Mermaid Signature Production, an emerging production company based in southern California with a mission to create high-quality entertainment while opening doors for actors, directors, writers, and camera personnel who are Deaf. We are currently in pre-production on our inaugural film, "Dead Silence," and in development on our next movie, "Metropolis-The Reboot." Our goal is to lead societal transformation, ending the days of pity for the Deaf community and evolving to an understanding where we embrace cultural differences by creating a platform of mutual respect, awareness, and education through the entertainment industry.

With each project we at MSP engage in, we strive to unite cultures and remove the walls of exclusion. Recently, independent films that were underdogs broke through barriers and became Oscar-winning Best Pictures, such as "CODA" and "Parasite," identifying a clear trend for Hollywood and globally. This acceptance of aesthetically artistic, independent films with strong cultural themes and the larger message within the storyline demonstrates the appetite for cultural diversity is out there, and the time is now! These films were embraced by the general public even while needing to accept their subtitles/open captions. This movement has catapulted us beyond race, gender, or language and advances to the next cultural acceptance hurdle.

We are shattering any notion that the hearing and Deaf worlds must be segregated, replacing it with a dynamic synergy. Were you aware that American Sign Language (ASL) is the fastest-growing "foreign language" taught in the United States at both High School and University levels? 

We strive to establish an interactive cultural exchange of American Sign Language (ASL) and the entertainment industry.

In our Full feature film "Metropolis-The Reboot," we will target a broad audience and appeal to both a mature audience and the teen/early adult audience, with an engaging storyline loaded with dynamic stunt scenes to wow our audience. Some characters speak English, while others communicate with American Sign Language. 

We will create effective messaging in our marketing campaigns, emphasizing the positive outcome of empowerment. The film will have a message of hope and love that will touch the audience with empathy (not sympathy) while educating the general population on how deaf people elevate with a CAN-DO attitude daily. 

It is an excellent way to expose the next generation to develop into stewards of cultural equality through experiencing this full-feature film. My goal for Mermaid Signature Production is to continue to create more stories that transform people's conviction about who we Deaf people are in the development and maturation of our race as we enter into this new era of inclusion and cultural development of gender equality globally.
