Raising $1M to expand nationally under new laws/regulations granting parity to private medical exams for VA disability claims

My niche medical practice helps Veterans win their VA disability claims with expert opinions and disability exams.  A recent law change (PL 116-315) in January was implemented by the VA on March 1, 2021.  This new regulatory environment grants parity to private medical evidence compared to that created by the examiners who work for the VA.   This is a huge opportunity to expand to a nationwide medical company and at the same time help a deserving and underserved population.

All of my clients are Veterans or their survivors.  Many of them have been fighting the VA for years for their disability benefits.

I am a general practice physician licensed in the state of Georgia.  I have already been doing this work for the last 4 years on a small scale and have become a self-taught expert in VA disability benefits.  My practice sits at the intersection of law and medicine and requires expertise in both areas.  Now, I need help with expertise in the business side of things so I can scale up to serve more Veterans.

My fees are paid when I complete the client's work and before the evidence is submitted to the VA.  My current model is to charge per document that I produce.  This is a simple, straightforward way of doing business that makes sense to my clients and makes for a discrete, sensible transaction.

My primary team member is a physician assistant with whom I served in the U.S. Army.  I was medically retired from the Army in 2016 for PTSD, so this work holds a lot of personal significance for me.

My products are "nexus letters" and "DBQs."  Nexus letters are medical opinions that connect a Veteran's disability to their service.  DBQs are the exams that tell the VA what percentage of disability to grant.

To expand, I will need funds to hire additional providers, hire staff for ciient intake, establish an IT infrastructure for document management, apply for professional licenses in additional states, and obtain examination space in other locations (most likely by renting physician offices, at first).

There are a handful of other companies doing this work right now, but in my estimation they do not have the combination of legal and medical expertise that I do.  They produce an inferior product.  In this new environment, there will be a race to see who can scale up the fastest.
