Raising $500k Non Profit Organization

Rocky’s Ruff House was founded in March, 2023 by Thoris L. Donovan, CEO, Founder, and Nissa M. Navone, CFO, Secretary. We are a Non-Profit 501(c)3 Organization, and would appreciate your consideration for a donation to help fund our project. At Rockeys Ruff House, we are currently working on a project that aims to help those in need be it human or canine, by taking them off of the streets and giving them a safe place to call home. Our goal is to make a home for the homeless community in Tuolumne County and prepare them for a prosperous future and reentry into society as a productive member. Our organization will also be rescuing canines in danger of being euthanized. We believe this will open up room for other animals at Tuolumne County Animal Control, and lower the euthanization rate due to overcrowding. In order to make a difference, we rely on the support of generous individuals and businesses such as yourselves. We would be most grateful if your company would consider helping us with a generous donation to fund our project. Your support is critical in helping us buil a foundation for a tremendous need to end homelessness in Tuolumne County. We will gladly keep you updated regarding our progress should you wish. We currently use Zelle through Wells Fargo Bank for electronic deposits and accept checks or money orders payable to Rocky’s Ruff House. We are seeking donations that involve real estate/land/property, which is an immediate need for funding. This will allow us to house the homeless beginning immediately. Thank you so much for your kind consideration of our request, and we hope to hear from you soon. We appreciate any and all investments, donations, referrals, resources and information that will lead our mission to success. If you would be so kind as to review the scope of our Organization attached herein, which describes how our Organization will benefit the community. Please be advised that our waiting list of potential clients continues to grow and we are receiving calls everyday expressing interest in our one of a kind endeavor.

The challenges of ending homelessness have become our goal. We understand that our decisions will determine the service models, housing needs, and other vital resources essential to sustaining people in our community. Rocky’s Ruff House is seeking solutions by approaching these issues that go beyond what other organizations are not doing. Our staff will make every effort to participate in all aspects of care in addition to the Coordinated Community Response with community resources. We will be working together with the following programs and resources to create approaches that impact systems across our community.

At Rocky’s Ruff House, our mission is to help those who want to be helped and are not able to receive help from any other resource. We know what it’s like when the going gets rough.  Experiencing homelessness, addictions and mental health combined with a criminal history, we understand the barriers the homeless face in our community. They also experience rejection by facilities who are not pet friendly. This poses a huge interference when it comes time to face a life-changing decision; needing help to overcome the challenges of being homeless and faced with the difficulty of rejection because their companion is not welcome. Our organization would be the only facility to offer a pet-friendly environment. We welcome humans and canines. If you have a pet, then you realize how extremely important the companionship is. These canines are not only pets but provide a service to human therapy, mentally, emotionally, and physically. Isn’t this why canines have been given the title “Service Animal”? To many individuals, their canine is not just a service animal. They have become fur babies. According to the Humane Society of the United States, 2.4 million healthy companion animals are euthanized in the United States annually. In addition to providing assistance to the homeless, we will also rescue canines in danger of being euthanized. Our goal is to allow residents the option of fostering these canines. Our hope is that a therapeutic companionship be established by pairing human to canine. Rocky’s Ruff House is designed to house the homeless for 18 months in 6-month intervals, and to provide canine rescue.

The first six months are the first stage, where new residents will be housed in a cottage or tiny home where their main focus will be to adjust, get acclimated, and rehabilitate. This involves obtaining medical, physical and mental health care. Transportation will be provided to ensure these goals are met.

Rocky’s Ruff House will be a drug-free environment where random drug testing will be conducted. Our priority Is to provide a well-adjusted case by case management. We will be working with behavioral health, mental health, and outpatient resources to establish a regimen that suits the comfort of each individual on a personal level.

The second stage is for continuing residents who require assistance in obtaining employment, applying for SSI/SSA, and/or obtain benefits through Social Services. Examples include resume building, providing resources for continued education, Cal-Fresh benefits or Government phones. Our goal is to build self-esteem, motivate and encourage our client's readiness to reenter society as a productive member.

The third stage is where our residents will ready themselves for successful completion of the program. At this time, they will have an income and begin looking for permanent housing. During this stage, residents will have obtained employment or other income, are enrolled in a behavioral/mental health program, seeking counseling, or on a higher path of responsibility.

Upon successful completion, they will receive a certificate of accomplishment, a Rocky’s Ruff House T-shirt and a we will have a BBQ for them.

We are seeking funding for 5-8 acres of property with a preexisting dwelling, where staff can reside and begin the first stage of Rocky’s Ruff House; purchase, receive and build tiny homes.

We anticipate purchasing 10 homes to start, which will take approximately 20 hours for 2 to build. The tiny homes are portable which allows us to strategically place them in sections as we add to our community as needed.
These tiny homes will average in size 8 x 12, to avoid building permits.
Our goal is raise 500k to fund this project and seek the help of donors and investors.

Moving forward, we remain committed to putting ideas into action that will solve homeless challenges of today and tomorrow.
