About UC SAREP Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems 2024-25 Small Grants Program

The Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program (SAREP) is a competitive grant program that funds projects that promote sustainable agriculture in California. The program is administered by the University of California, Davis, and is funded by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA). SAREP grants are available to a wide range of eligible applicants, including nonprofit organizations, farms, food system businesses, tribes, and institutions of higher education. Funded projects address a variety of sustainable agriculture issues, such as soil health and conservation, water quality and conservation, pest management, climate change adaptation and mitigation, sustainable livestock grazing, sustainable crop production, marketing and distribution of sustainable food products, farmworker safety and health, and food justice and equity. SAREP grants typically range from $10,000 to $100,000. The deadline to apply for a SAREP grant is typically in early February.
