Tom McInerney is an active angel investor and company advisor based between Santa Monica and San Francisco. He began his career as an engineer/scientist at Apple's Cupertino headquarters and later worked at Sony on VAIO computers before becoming an entrepreneur, founding early online video companies Guba and ShareYourWorld. Beyond investing, McInerney serves as an advisor to companies including Klout (where he also spent nine months as COO) and Aserto, a Venture Partner at Amplify.LA, and a mentor at i/o Ventures. He's also on the National Council of the World Wildlife Fund. His investing spans broad-ranging seed and early-stage bets across consumer tech, SaaS, deep tech, and clean energy, with a typical investment range of $25,000 to $500,000 and a sweet spot around $50,000, alongside select later-stage positions in major companies. Notable seed investments include Segment, Notion, Clubhouse, Radiant Nuclear, Bird (Series A), Tala, Dapper Labs, and GetAround. He's also a later-stage investor in SpaceX, Uber, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Perplexity.
