About The City of La Grange GAP Redevelopment Grant Program

The City of La Grange’s Office of Community Development offers a GAP Redevelopment Grant Program which is designed to encourage target businesses that will fill a gap in products or services available in the City of La Grange. The goal is that the GAP grant recipient will directly benefit the La Grange community by strengthening the local trade area which will reduce the need for consumers to find products and services outside of the community. The GAP Redevelopment Grant Program is funded by the La Grange Economic Development Corporation (EDC). To receive assistance under this program, qualified applicants must complete the application packet and conduct their project according to all applicable City of La Grange codes and ordinances. The purpose of the Program is: 1. To support the implementation of the adopted 2018-2038 Comprehensive Plan for the City of La Grange. 2. To incentivize the opening of businesses within the City limits of La Grange, and to promote the reuse of properties, encouraging private investment in the improvement of commercial properties, reducing vacancies in commercial buildings, and increasing the functionality of existing buildings. 3. To create opportunities for different types of businesses in the City of La Grange which fill gaps in available products, services, entertainment, and other amenities, thus improving quality of life for both residents and visitors. APPLICANTS • Must be a business owner of the proposed business. (Must obtain project authorization from the property owner if the applicant does not own the property.). • Must be a start-up business that has been in operation no more than 60 days at the timethe application is submitted. • Business owner must not be delinquent on property or business taxes, must not be engaged in a lawsuit with the City of La Grange, and must otherwise be in good standing with the City of La Grange. • Property must be located inside the City limits of La Grange and zoned for commercial use. • Commercial properties must comply with state and local code requirements. • All property improvements must comply with the La Grange Design Guidelines and the City of La Grange Code of Ordinances. • Business owner must participate in a Professional Development Program coordinated through the La Grange EDC in order to receive reimbursement funds.
