About SWAT Equity Partners

Sweat Equity Ventures is a Value Accelerator, a new kind of investor that invests expertise and time in exchange for equity. Collectively, the team consists of highly experienced operators, entrepreneurs, and technologists, founders with decades of building successful companies, launching products used by millions, and creating billions in commercial value. Founded in 2018 by Dan Portillo, a former Greylock Partners talent lead, and backed by LP Reid Hoffman, the San Francisco-based firm structures its $30M fund as operating capital rather than traditional cash checks, funding embedded senior operators drawn from Amazon, Google, LinkedIn, Stripe, and Uber. The firm focuses on three pillars: product and engineering, go-to-market strategy, and talent growth, working in dedicated sprints directly alongside founding teams. Its roughly 31 portfolio companies include Dessa, Ubiquity6, Nuro.ai, LTSE, Newfront, and Bespoke Financial, where it co-led an $8M round alongside Casa Verde Capital.
