About Sectoral Asset Management
Sectoral Asset Management is a healthcare-focused investment firm founded in October 2000 and headquartered in Montreal, Canada, with additional offices in Geneva, Switzerland, and Hong Kong. It is 100% employee-owned, SEC-registered as an investment advisor, and a proud member of the State Street Global Alliance. The firm manages both public and private equity healthcare strategies for institutional and individual investors worldwide, and holds one of the longest track records globally in managing biotech equities.
On the public equity side, Sectoral offers four strategies — Global Healthcare, Emerging Markets Healthcare, Small & Mid Cap Healthcare, and Biotech — delivered through sub-advisory mandates, segregated portfolios, and investment funds. On the private side, its venture capital arm operates two funds: the New Emerging Medical Opportunities (NEMO) fund, launched in 2008, which invests in late-stage Series B and beyond biotech and medtech companies across North America and Europe; and the Fonds Medtech Ventures (FMV), launched in 2023, which focuses on early-stage Series A Canadian medical technology companies.
The firm leads or co-leads the majority of its initial private investments and typically holds a board seat in its portfolio companies. Its venture portfolio spans pharmaceutical development, medical devices, and diagnostics, reflecting a broader mission to generate financial returns alongside tangible improvements in patient health and well-being.
