Pitamber "Pitou" Devgon is a Healthcare Entrepreneur, Angel Investor, Board Member, and Advisor. Pitou is a physician entrepreneur and most recently the co-founder of Velano Vascular which was acquired by BD. The company’s core technology, called PIVO, originally came from a napkin drawing he sketched after one of his hospital shifts which they built into a venture-backed startup, and then a new standard of care for inpatient blood collection. As the firm expanded, he had the pleasure of serving in various leadership roles including President, Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Innovation & Strategy Officer, along with serving on the Board of Directors. Prior to co-founding Velano Vascular, Pitou spent several years in venture capital at Safeguard Scientifics, focused on medical devices, diagnostics, and healthcare IT investing. He caught his entrepreneurial spirit while still in college as a dot-com entrepreneur in the collegiate web portal space, by founding the Student Information Network. In addition to his prior staff physician appointment in the Medical ICU at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center, he enjoys guest lecturing at UPenn and the Wharton School on topics of entrepreneurship and healthcare investing. Pitou earned his BA in biological psychology from the College of William & Mary, his MD from Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and have over a decade of experience as a hospitalist physician.
