Dr. Parviz Tayebati is an Angel Investor. Dr. Parviz Tayebati served as Chief Executive Officer at TeraDiode. Prior to joining TeraDiode Inc. he also founded Camros Capital to focus on private investments. He served as a Board Member at Sanitas. He was previously chairman and CEO of AZNA Corporation which he co-founded in June 2002. Azna Corporation developed and manufactured high-speed fiber optic communication lasers with high tolerance to chromatic dispersion to serve the fast-growing bandwidth demand. AZNA was acquired by Finisar Corporation in 2007. Before founding Azna Corp, he was VP of business development for the component division at Nortel Networks Optical Components. During the same period, he was President of CoreTek, Inc., a company he founded in 1993 and ran as CEO until it was acquired by Nortel Networks in March 2000 for $1.43B. Under his leadership, CoreTek developed market-leading tunable photonic solutions for long haul and metropolitan dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) systems. During his tenure at CoreTek, he developed and managed a wide range of government contracts which led to the breakthrough technology of Tunable Optical VCSEL technology which utilized MEMs for the first time in optical communications. Prior to founding CoreTek in 1993, Parviz was a Program Manager of optical computing technologies at Foster-Miller, Inc. now a subsidiary of QinetiQ. Parviz received a B.S. with first-class honors from the University of Birmingham, England, a Master's Degree in theoretical physics from the University of Cambridge, and a Ph.D. in Quantum Electronics from the University of Southern California. He serves on the board of several private companies, and charitable and entrepreneurial organizations.
