About PACE - Calvin Shindo Student Venture Fund

The Calvin Shindo Student Venture Fund of the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship is a student-run venture capital fund for early-stage University of Hawaii-affiliated companies. We are the Calvin Shindo Student Venture Fund, and our purpose is to offer pre-seed investments to students and alumni from all 10 community colleges and universities within the University of Hawai‘i System. Managed by a diverse group of UH students, the goal of our fund is to provide founders with the support they need to boost their companies to the next level while also nurturing the next generation of investors. Our fund has a total of $125,000 in available funding, with individual investments of up to $5,000. We allocate up to $25,000 per year to deserving ventures. See below for companies in our current portfolio. The Calvin Shindo Student Venture Fund makes investments in UH-affiliated companies. Funding will be in exchange for equity positions within the respective companies, subject to the regulations of law and such reasonable limitations as may be imposed by the UH Foundation. A member of the venture’s founding team must include one of the following: • Full-time or part-time, undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a degree-seeking program in any of the 10 community colleges and universities within the University of Hawai‘i System. Recipients must provide proof of enrollment. • Alumnus (within 5 years of graduation) of any of the 10 community colleges and universities within the UH System. • Student or faculty licensee of UH technology.
