Neil Underwood, Angel Investor

Neil Underwood is an Angel Investor and currently serves as co-founder and General Partner of Canapi Ventures, a strategic fintech venture fund. The firm invests in SaaS-based bank infrastructure companies, alongside an ecosystem of industry veterans, who deploy solutions on next-gen platforms and are maniacal about open API’s. He is a co-founder and active Director of Live Oak Bank (LOB), where he previously served as President. While at the bank, he cofounded nCino (NCNO), a cloud-based bank operating system now serving over 1000 financial institutions globally. Through the venture arm of Live Oak, Underwood helped incubate companies focused on digital bank transformation, including Finxact, Payrailz, DefenseStorm, and Greenlight. In 2017, he cofounded Apiture, a joint venture between Live Oak and First Data, serving as a cloud-native omnichannel onboarding and servicing platform. Underwood currently serves on the boards of Live Oak Bank, Greenlight, ModernFI, Island, Proof (formerly Notarize), Asset Class, and Posh. He previously served on the boards of nCino, Apiture, DefenseStorm, Payrailz, Finxact, and Blend. A native of Miami, FL, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
