With over 30 years of investment history to draw from, Murry Gunty leverages his experience in rescuing small to mid-sized distressed companies to help turn around poorly run rinks and hockey facilities, rebuilding the sport across communities in the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest. Murry Gunty is the founder and CEO of Black Bear Sports Group, Inc. Founded in 2015, this privately held company seeks investments in sports and entertainment facilities and youth sports teams and events. A lifelong hockey fan growing up in Portland, Maine, Gunty spent countless hours playing hockey and watching the former Maine Mariners of the American Hockey League. Gunty has coached his sons’ AA and AAA hockey teams from Mite through Midget and is passionate about growing the game. Gunty is also the Managing Partner of Blackstreet Capital, having founded the firm in 2002. He was formerly a General Partner of Jacobson Partners, L.P., a middle-market private equity fund focused on control buyouts of businesses with up to $150 million in revenue. Mr. Gunty is a former partner in the real estate principal investment area of Lazard Freres & Co., LLC, where he co-managed $3 billion of capital in real estate-related private equity funds. He is a former associate of the Blackstone Group. Mr. Gunty received an AB from Harvard College and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
