About Moving Flint Forward Small Business Grant Program

The Moving Flint Forward Small Business Grant Program is a collaborative effort between the General Motors and Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance to provide grants to Flint neighborhood small businesses. This grant program, established with funding support from GM, seeks to expand revitalization efforts across the city’s neighborhoods by supporting local businesses and boosting the power of the community doing vital work there to support Flint residents. Businesses who receive the grant must use it for: -Expansion projects. -Making repairs or leasehold improvements. -Purchasing inventory and equipment. -Façade improvements. The program also connect grantees to resources that can upgrade their businesses beyond the grant period. Grantees are required to participate in cohort meetings, where they have access to networking opportunities and workshops on various topics related to running a business. The grant program is open to anyone who owns and operates a small business within in Flint with 20 or fewer employees and cannot be a franchise operation.
