About Michael Abbott, Angel Investor
Michael Abbott is an engineering leader, entrepreneur, and investor who has scaled products and infrastructure for both consumers and enterprises. Most recently, he was Executive Vice President of Software and Services at General Motors, overseeing nearly 20,000 engineers across software‑defined vehicles, autonomous driving, OnStar, and enterprise IT. Prior to GM, he served as VP of Engineering for Apple Cloud Services, leading infrastructure and products including iCloud, iMessage, Private Relay, and enterprise offerings.
Earlier, Mike was a Visiting Scholar at Stanford’s Artificial Intelligence Lab (SAIL), a General Partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and held senior engineering roles at Twitter, Palm, and Microsoft. He has also contributed to national initiatives such as the HealthCare.gov Tech Surge Team. He serves on the boards of USC Viterbi School of Engineering, UC Berkeley Engineering Advisory Board, and Cal Poly Foundation, and lectures at Stanford’s CS Department.
As an investor, his portfolio includes alphaXiv, Oasiz, Unblocked, webAI, Astrocade, Candidate Labs, Aspen, Locu, and Hearsay Systems, highlighting his interest in startups innovating in AI, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise technology.
