McKinley is an Alaska-based investment and research firm providing the capital and tools to help organizations grow their businesses, economies, and communities. McKinley Management has a more than 50-year history as a privately owned Alaska-based investment and research firm. McKinley Capital Management, LLC was founded in 1990 by Bob Gillam, a second-generation Alaskan. Bob believed that computationally driven investing could be done from anywhere in the world, including his spectacular home state. His son, and longtime McKinley Chief Investment Officer, Rob Gillam, was appointed CEO. Under Rob’s leadership, the firm became McKinley Management in 2021. McKinley Alaska Private Investment, LLC began in 2019 as an initiative of McKinley Capital. In 2021, the company was created to formalize McKinley’s private investment business and acknowledge its specific products and services. In 2020, the firm acquired McKinley Research Group (formerly McDowell Group), Alaska’s oldest and largest research, consulting and advisory group.
