John Horton, Angel Investor

John Horton is the founder and former CEO and Executive Chairman of LegitScript (2007–2022), which became the world’s leading internet company for certification, monitoring, and compliance under his leadership, serving global search engines, payment providers, and drug safety regulators. He previously worked in the White House as a drug policy advisor, drafting the National Synthetic Drug Control Strategy, and earlier served as a prosecutor in Oregon and legal counsel to the Oregon House Judiciary Committee. Beyond his professional career, Horton is also a published singer-songwriter and has lived and studied in Japan. As an angel investor, Horton has supported OpenPlay, a company building a comprehensive platform for music rights management and royalty tracking.
