Jim Villanueva, Angel Investor

Jim is a longtime entrepreneur and investor in growth companies. He has been investing in early-stage social businesses in developing countries - primarily in Eastern Africa - for over a decade. He is regarded as a leader in the impact investing space, with deep networks among accelerators, incubators, service providers and funders. He brings extensive experience as an entrepreneur and investor to his current role, providing advisory support to entrepreneurs and frequently serving on their boards of directors. Jim previously led the development of the Eleos Foundation's impact investment portfolio since its inception, and served at Eleos as Executive Director, a founding board member, and Investment Director. The Eleos Foundation invested in pioneering business solutions to poverty. Over the course of his career with several private equity partnerships, Jim invested in multiple industries across North and South America. Prior to that, he co-founded and sold a Spanish-language media company and a national Hispanic marketing and public relations firm.
