Gun Lake Investments, or GLI, is a Grand Rapids, Michigan-based economic development company. We operate like a family office—investing capital in a diverse portfolio of private equity assets. Except instead of representing just one family, GLI represents the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians of Michigan (or MBPI for short) or perhaps better known as the Gun Lake Tribe. While some people may associate us with Gun Lake’s gaming arm, GLI is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Gun Lake Tribe and is focused on diversifying the Tribal economy into everything except gaming—ensuring the financial foundation for the Tribe for generations to come. We blur the lines between investing with and investing in people. That may be a little bit different from most firms. But we aren’t like most firms. As the 100% Tribal-owned non-gaming entity of the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians, we look at things a little differently.
