Golden Opportunities Fund is Saskatchewan's first and largest Provincial Retail Venture Capital Fund, investing exclusively in Saskatchewan (and Manitoba) companies to keep investment dollars local. Launched in 1999, the fund is managed by Westcap Mgt. Ltd., a leading Saskatchewan-based venture capital and private equity manager with roughly $1 billion in assets under management. Sector coverage spans agriculture, manufacturing, oil and gas, building supplies, healthcare, consumer products, and technology. Notable investments include Degelman Industries ($27 million MBO), Warman Home Centre, Golden Health Care, Rocky Mountain Equipment, Chrysalis (formerly iQmetrix), WBM Technologies, Cova, Precision AI, Headversity, and Three Farmers Foods. Its investment approach favors partnering with strong, experienced local management teams — often through management buyouts or succession planning — across a broad range of sectors and company sizes, from early-stage innovation startups to established, decades-old Saskatchewan businesses.
