About Florida Opportunity Fund
Florida Opportunity Fund (FOF) is a state-backed, non-profit venture capital organization established in 2008 under the Florida Capital Formation Act, headquartered in Orlando, Florida. An initial $29.5 million state appropriation has been leveraged with federal funds to build four investment programs totaling over $136 million in capital.
FOF operates three primary programs: the Florida Venture Capital Program, which funds emerging early-stage companies; a Fund of Funds program that invests in early-stage VC fund managers with a Florida focus; and a Clean Energy Investment Program supporting businesses developing energy-efficient and renewable energy technologies. Target sectors include technology, life sciences, clean energy, aerospace and defense, and advanced manufacturing.
Typical investments range from seed to Series A stages. Portfolio companies include Stax, OneRail, Worth AI, Urban SDK, Myosin Therapeutics, HealthSnap, and TENEX. FOF has also partnered with organizations like Quantum Coast Capital to advance quantum computing innovation in Florida, and actively works with other institutions to strengthen the state's early-stage venture ecosystem.
