Factorial Funds is a venture capital firm founded in 2021 by Sol Bier, who was part of the early team at Cruise Automation and helped scale it from a small autonomous vehicle startup to its $1 billion acquisition by General Motors in 2016. The firm is based in Los Angeles and San Francisco, California. Factorial makes concentrated technology investments across the full AI value chain: the intelligence layer, silicon, infrastructure, and the power needed to run it, spanning cloud and data infrastructure, robotics, and rapidly scaling AI software. Its second fund, closed in 2025 with $200 million in committed capital, was anchored by Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation. The firm's portfolio includes Anthropic, Anduril, X.AI, Perplexity, Mistral AI, SpaceX, ElevenLabs, Physical Intelligence, and The Bot Company, with Perplexity representing a unicorn outcome. Factorial invests across seed through growth stages, frequently co-investing alongside major backers like Nvidia.
