About Erik Eccles, Angel Investor

Erik Eccles is a husband, father, son, and skier who loves building companies. Urbandoor, acquired by Airbnb in August 2019, was Erik's third startup. His previous two companies, Jumpcut and Versly, were acquired by Yahoo! in 2006 and Cisco in 2011 respectively. Versly became the catalyst for Cisco’s collaboration cloud platform Webex Teams (formerly Spark), where he lead its development, along with the co-founder of Urbandoor Benjamin Renaud, across three continents. In many ways, it was the global work experience at Cisco that lead to Urbandoor. Erik’s entrepreneurial spirit and competitive drive were developed at a young age. He watched his father build one of the largest privately owned plumbing service companies in the US (twice) and competed in alpine ski racing at elite levels starting in childhood through college. To this day, his father’s leadership style and customer-centricity is a source of inspiration and he loves to go fast downhill. You can find him online at @erikeccles on Twitter or here on Linkedin.
