Edward Kim, Angel Investor

Edward Kim is the co-founder and head of technology at Gusto, where he has led product and engineering since 2011. Gusto has grown into a leading platform for payroll, HR, and benefits, with a mission to make work empower a better life. Under his leadership, the company has been recognized as one of the best places to work in San Francisco and continues to expand across multiple U.S. locations. Before Gusto, Kim co-founded Picwing, a Y Combinator–backed startup that simplified photo sharing for families and was acquired in 2011. Earlier in his career, he worked as a senior project engineer at Volkswagen’s Electronics Research Lab, gaining experience in large-scale engineering and product development. As an angel investor, Kim has backed startups in productivity and fintech. His portfolio includes Uprise, where he invested in both pre-seed and seed rounds, and Playbook, a seed-stage company. These investments reflect his focus on supporting founders building tools that simplify complex processes and improve everyday work and life.
