Dorset Agriculture

Dorset is an independent real estate investment firm focused on agriculture. Our mission is to support farmers in underserved portions of the market while providing investors with a different way to invest in agriculture. The firm is owned and operated by two Iowans from multigenerational farming families and is advised by two agriculture industry veterans. Combined, we have developed, managed, operated, and invested in all of the real assets Dorset targets, including: At Dorset, we enhance investor portfolios with an uncorrelated diversifier that offers attractive after-tax returns, capital preservation, and current income. These benefits are driven by our own-and-lease strategy, which invests in a market white space for niche farmland and agricultural infrastructure assets. Our founder, Mike Denklau, grew up in a third-generation farming family in Blue Grass, Iowa, where he saw how limited access to capital prevented his father from buying the family farm. Later, as an agriculture investor at Harvard Management Company and Solum Partners, Mike realized that his family’s story is not unique. Across the industry, farmers lack access to equity capital for smaller, real-asset investments.
