About Columbia Angel Network

The Columbia Angel Network (CAN) is a non-profit group of Columbia University alumni interested in investing in Columbia-affiliated early stage ventures. CAN operates under the CBS Alumni Club of NY (a 501(c)6 non-profit organization), available to all university alumni and students ▪ Led by an advisory council of alumni and select faculty ▪ Investors invest directly in startups (no pooled fund or syndicate) CAN maintains a close working relationship with Columbia University and its current students and faculty. By collaborating regularly and fostering connection with groups like the Eugene Lang Entrepreneurship Center, the Athena Fellowship, and the Columbia Business School Entrepreneurship Club (CEO), CAN aims to be at the center of the CU entrepreneurship and early-stage investing community. CAN considers the following when selecting companies to pitch to our members: ▪ Current focus is limited to US-based startups ▪ Founding team should contain at least one graduate of a Columbia University-affiliated school ▪ Founding team should have demonstrated experience in their company’s industry ▪ Preference for demonstrated ability to generate revenue ▪ If the company has not yet generated revenue, CAN likes to see traction demonstrated in some form, such as: 1. Growth in user-base 2. A successful pilot or in-market beta test 3, Monetizable assets (IP, patents, product awaiting approval, etc.)
