Charter Oak Equity

About Charter Oak Equity

The general partners average over 15 years of private equity experience having previously worked together at Charter Oak Capital Partners. Prior to joining Charter Oak, the partners developed deep operational, financial, and consulting expertise which COE brings to bear in support of our companies. COE always seeks to partner with management to improve growth and profitability, and where appropriate, we take active line roles on a temporary basis. The general partners have personally invested in all of the Firm's transactions. Currently, COE has eight companies in its portfolio: six are control-oriented buyouts and two are growth capital investments. COE's most recent investment (July 2014) is a buyout with the management of Seaboard Folding Box Company LLC, a maker of paperboard boxes for the specialty food and pharmacy markets. In November 2013 COE closed a buyout with the management of EiKO Global LLC, a marketer and distributor of lighting products. In May 2013 we acquired The Crown Group, a provider of coating services for industrial applications, and closed Electra-Finish Inc., an add-on for this business, in November 2013. Other buyout investments include a buyout of ShelterLogic (2011), a manufacturer of outdoor canopies and garage shelters, and Brook & Whittle (2009), a printer of high-color pressure-sensitive and shrink-sleeve consumer product labels. Cirtec Medical Systems specializes in outsourced design and manufacturing services for neuro-stimulation and cardiovascular devices. It was formed from the merger of Circle Medical Devices (2008) and Texcel (2007). Growth capital investments are Interactive Diagnostic Imaging (2010), an early-stage dental company producing portable X-ray devices, and Smartcare (spun out of Smart Tuition holdings in 2016), which is developing a SaaS platform for daycare centers and has acquired Childcare Manager, a daycare center software company.
