Cerulean is a pre-seed venture firm investing in physical AI: founders turning the under-digitized physical economy into trusted, machine-readable intelligence. We back capital-light, domain-specific companies that own operational workflows and proprietary physical-world data in food and agriculture, energy systems, supply chains, industrial manufacturing, and oceans. Our portfolio drives systems change in pharma, the grid, food systems, and ocean health. The thesis is the End of Externalities: AI finally makes nature measurable, and what becomes measurable becomes priced, financeable, and investable. Founded by operators who built and exited AI companies using machine intelligence in industries that had never seen it. Our focus is on digital technologies to scale climate impact. This means we look at software (preferably open source), IoT, platforms, and occasionally simple hardware. STAGE We focus on pre-seed and seed stage companies. GEOGRAPHIC FOCUS We invest globally, with a focus on the EU, US, and the African continent. CLIMATE IMPACT We’re seeking to meet teams who are scaling climate impact by originating net new environmental assets and data, net new institutional demand for environmental data and assets, and those who are building digital tools to coordinate communities adapting and mitigating climate risk.
