Bulldog Innovation Group (BIG)

About Bulldog Innovation Group (BIG)

BIG was founded and built by Yale alumni, and all our investors are Yale alumni. We focus solely on companies offering disruptive technologies, products or services, led by the most promising Yale talent. We support them at the seed stage with active, experienced mentoring from our growing team of investors. As our investments and efforts yield success, we’re creating more potential investors who share the Yale ethos, producing a cycle of growth for investors and entrepreneurs, and for the next generation. In the past five years, the University has intensified its focus on innovation and entrepreneurship, with events, faculty, classes and new organizations as encouragement to new business formation. The members of our General Partner are active alumni, closely connected to the organizations and individuals who are helping to grow this ecosystem. Our connections serve us well, generating a pipeline of high-potential opportunities with founders who have been vetted by respected sources. With mentoring and support, our companies are well positioned for long-term success and our investors are poised to benefit as well. We operate on a community model in several ways: We are tapping into an ecosystem of faculty, students, alumni and staff that is focused on nurturing Yale entrepreneurship. We are drawing these individuals and their networks together, connecting investors, analysts, advisors and entrepreneurial talent to create a highly focused, dynamic community. By harnessing the power of our Yale connections, we’re creating an efficient, effective mechanism for finding, evaluating and investing in promising opportunities. Unlike most venture investment groups, we have two primary goals: creating wealth and supporting the Yale entrepreneurial ecosystem. We believe that Yale entrepreneurs tend to be undervalued in the marketplace. We plan to source, evaluate and invest in a portfolio of about 25 carefully curated companies from a wide range of industries for a five-year investment period. Our approach is based on research from the Kauffman Foundation and others, and stresses mentoring and guidance, matching companies with the most suitable advisors from our network. We look forward to working with investors and entrepreneurs who share our BIG vision — and who would like to share in its reality and rewards.
