About Brown Venture Group
Brown Venture Group, LLC is a venture capital firm based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, that invests in undervalued companies using leading-edge technologies. The firm envisions a world where all talent has access to transformational capital, exclusively backing Black, Latino, and Native American tech founders.
In 2021, Best Buy committed up to $10 million to the firm's inaugural fund, drawing coverage from TechCrunch, Forbes, Barron's, and Bloomberg, part of a broader effort by the firm to raise $50 million for founders of color, alongside investment commitments from Bank of America.
The firm also runs Federal Mashup Lab, a first-of-its-kind co-created model designed to increase participation of underrepresented contributors in the federal technology-transfer commercialization process, connecting venture capital, industry, and government stakeholders, including partnerships with NASA and the Federal Laboratory Consortium.
Brown Venture Group's portfolio includes Ecolution Power Co., a clean energy startup, and Big Navajo Energy, a Native-owned clean energy company. The firm's investment approach centers on identifying overlooked, high-potential technology companies led by underrepresented founders across clean energy, security, and other technology-driven sectors.
