Blacktop Capital is a seed-stage venture capital firm founded in 2016. With offices in Sacramento, Seattle, and many connections in Los Angeles and Silicon Valley, we’re well-positioned to invest throughout the western US. Early-stage investing places heavy emphasis on a strong founding team. We first look for ambitious teams that aren’t afraid to challenge conventional thinking. After finding the right team, we then focus on great companies that: -Want more than just a check (we’re here to add value). -Are solving a real problem. -Provide solutions that scale well in large markets. -Offer a differentiated product or service with a strategy to maintain the differentiation. -Are post-revenue with demonstrated growth. We prefer software to hardware, brilliant ideas that are a challenge to decent ideas that are easy, and smaller blue oceans to larger red ones. We’re not constrained by market sector or geography as long as other criteria are met.
