About Artis Ventures (AV)

ARTIS Ventures (AV) is a San Francisco-based venture capital firm founded in 2001, guided by the belief that frontier technologies can fundamentally transform and strengthen the human condition. The firm coined the term "TechBio" to describe its core investment thesis — the convergence of computer science and life science, applying engineering principles and data-driven discovery to healthcare. The firm invests from early stage through IPO and beyond, focusing on companies at the intersection of AI, machine learning, genomics, biotechnology, digital health, and deep tech. Its fourth fund, TechBio II, closed at $200 million in December 2023. The firm also runs the ARTIS AI Health Alliance and a Fellows program to cultivate the next generation of TechBio founders. Notable portfolio companies include Palantir, YouTube, Stemcentrx (acquired by AbbVie), Cohesity, Rad AI, Freenome, Excision Bio, Seed Health, Conceivable Life Sciences, Delix Therapeutics, and ONTO Health. The firm supports portfolio companies across their full lifecycle, from initial investment through public offering.
