About Altitude Ventures
Altitude Ventures (AV) is a venture capital firm with offices in Nashville and Houston, rooted in the family office of the late Clayton McWhorter, former Chairman and CEO of HCA. It builds strategic partnerships across three strategies: healthcare venture capital, real estate, and special opportunities in micro-cap and lower middle market companies.
Its healthcare strategy leads investments in early-stage healthcare services and digital health companies, drawing on its team’s network of payor, health system, and provider relationships. Investments include Itiliti Health, Mindoula Health, Doctivity, Opya, and Spiras Health. The team works daily with portfolio companies to recruit talent, support operations, provide strategic guidance, and raise follow-on capital.
AV looks for capital-efficient, seed to Series B businesses with scalable models, a proven product and customer base, and $500,000 to $5 million in annual revenue. Initial investments typically range from $1 million to $10 million, with significant follow-on reserves available.
It builds ownership of 20% to 40% in each new investment, and takes a majority position in unique situations. AV backs strong management teams with sector-specific expertise and a passion for building businesses, often led by entrepreneurs with previous success. Its real estate strategy leads investments in multi-family, commercial, and land.
