About Alex Erhart, Angel Investor

Alex has been in high-tech businesses for over 30 years, rising through the design engineering ranks into VP Engineering, CTO, and CEO positions. His background includes over 70 U.S. patents. He has also been the founder and CEO of several successful startups, which included fundraising (>$200M raised), customer relationships, and strategic planning. The first company (Vivid Semiconductor) was in the LCD business and was sold to National Semiconductor in 2000. The second (Validity Inc.) was in the biometric (fingerprint sensors) market, where he served as CEO for the first 3 years, and then EVP of Engineering, before it was sold to Synaptics. He then got into investing in startups and was CIO at Trinity Capital, where he used his startup experience to help with due diligence and final decisions on investments, and he sat on the boards of several companies in their portfolio.
