Alex de Aboitiz, Angel Investor

Alex de Aboitiz is a climate tech and clean energy investor with a global portfolio spanning Australia, North America, Europe, and beyond. He has backed ventures in alternative proteins, battery technologies, renewable energy, and carbon solutions, alongside investments in renewable infrastructure funds and large‑scale clean energy projects. In addition to his climate focus, Alex is an active venture investor and mentor in the Australian startup ecosystem, with angel investments in companies such as Canva, Zoox, and Baraja. He is also a limited partner in leading venture funds, including Blackbird Ventures, Main Sequence Ventures, and Investible Climate Tech, and has supported founders through programs like Startmate and Energy Labs. Earlier in his career, Alex was CFO of MercadoLibre, helping scale the company into Latin America’s leading e‑commerce ecosystem, and later held senior roles at Amazon.com.. He began his career at BCG, JPMorgan, and in private equity, and holds a degree in Anthropology from Harvard College and an MBA from Stanford.
