Writing with Design

Writing with Design is a revolutionary approach to writing that empowers teachers and students to achieve remarkable writing gains. Developed by teachers for teachers, we transform students into articulate, adept, analytical writers through teaching steps, structures, and strategies that actually make writing doable and exciting. We offer professional development (both on-site and virtual), demonstration lessons in classrooms, print and online resources, and a writing scoring service (schools submit writing samples, our team scores the work and provides feedback to guide instruction) for preK-12th grade.

Said simply, we are on a mission to transform the caliber of writing across the country and beyond.

With the funding requested, we will be able to rewrite our software to make it a more robust, reliable, and impressive portal and resource.
What began as Excel sheets to track student growth has now turned into a web-based software that: 
-serves as a portal for students to complete writings and review scores
-allows teachers to easily read and score students' work, compare scores to chart growth, and find resources to teach skills
-holds an ever-growing library of resources, writing prompts, video tutorials, and lessons for teachers to utilize in their classroom
-has truly become the hub of all things Writing with Design

Our clients are passionate teachers and schools across the country, from San Jose to Charleston. Schools pay per student per assessment for our writing scoring service. We also charge an annual subscription rate per teacher for access to our software. We are eager to expand what the software offers, restructure the subscription options to a more tiered model, and offer our services to individual students/families.

Despite its current limitations, our clients love the software and simply wish it did more!

We have scoped the project and know the budget for a complete rewrite with a reputable software development company based in Houston, TX. We are more than happy to demo the current software and share the mock-ups of the new and improved version.
