VioShield™ LLC is a Colorado-based technology company developing innovative light-based products for the growing health, beauty, recovery, and wellness industries.
Light wellness uses specific wavelengths of light as part of personal health, beauty, recovery, and self-care routines. Consumers are increasingly interested in light-based products for applications ranging from skin and beauty care to muscle and joint comfort, athletic recovery, and general wellness. Unlike approaches involving drugs or chemicals, light provides a non-invasive physical input that can interact with and support natural biological processes in the body.
VioShield is entering this growing market with a simple but fundamentally different concept: one light platform for multiple wellness applications.
Although VioShield is a new consumer brand, the technology, engineering, and manufacturing capabilities behind it are not those of a typical startup. VioShield is affiliated with Boulderlamp, Inc., an established U.S. LED technology manufacturer founded in 2009, with more than 30,000 advanced LED lighting systems deployed throughout North America. This relationship gives VioShield immediate access to experienced engineering, domestic manufacturing infrastructure, established global component supply chains, and proven quality-control processes.
The Problem and Our Solution
Most consumer light-therapy products today are either handheld devices that require users to hold and continually reposition them, or large rigid panels that can be heavy, expensive, and inconvenient. These products can also make it difficult to conveniently reach areas such as the back, shoulders, and torso.
VioShield takes a different approach. Our light sources are built into the underside of lightweight, elevated platforms. Users simply position the desired area of the body beneath the light. This provides a hands-free, zero-contact approach that makes it easy to illuminate both easy-to-reach and hard-to-reach areas.
Convenience is an important part of our design philosophy. A user can incorporate light wellness into normal daily activities—while working at a computer, reading, watching television, or simply relaxing—rather than having to hold a device or dedicate additional time to a session.
Our Products
Our initial product is the VioShield Light Wellness Table, a compact 22" × 12" × 12" foldable platform weighing approximately four pounds. It combines 405 nm violet-blue and 660 nm deep-red light and incorporates our automated VioShield Trio™ sequence. Rather than creating a different device for every application, the same platform is designed for multiple consumer uses, including skin and beauty, face and body care, foot and nail wellness, joint and physical comfort, and general personal wellness.
We are also developing a larger Red Light Wellness Table using 660 nm red and 850 nm near-infrared light. A 24" × 36" module can be used independently, while two modules can be combined to create a 24" × 72" full-body platform. This expands the VioShield concept from compact personal wellness to large-area and full-body applications.
Beta Testing and Product Development
VioShield products have been undergoing beta testing for almost a year. Our beta program has included users evaluating the platform for applications involving joint and muscle discomfort, skin affected by rosacea, and acne-prone skin.
The purpose of this ongoing beta program is to gain real-world experience and user feedback regarding product design, ease of use, convenience, and the overall user experience as we refine our products for broader commercialization. These beta activities are part of our product-development process and are not intended to establish or make medical claims.
Market Opportunity
VioShield sits at the intersection of several growing consumer industries: health and wellness, beauty and skincare, natural approaches to supporting the body's recovery processes, athletic recovery, and at-home self-care.
The global light-therapy market is currently estimated at approximately $1.4 billion and projected to reach approximately $2.7 billion by 2030, with North America representing more than 35% of the market. Consumer interest in non-invasive, at-home wellness and skincare products is helping drive this growth.
We believe VioShield's opportunity goes beyond selling another red-light device. Our strategy is to create an all-in-one light wellness platform that can serve multiple applications and consumer groups using a common underlying product architecture.
Business Model and Customers
Our business model is initially direct-to-consumer. We plan to introduce VioShield through Kickstarter and our own e-commerce platform, supported by targeted social-media advertising, digital marketing, and influencer partnerships. As sales develop, we plan to expand through major online marketplaces such as Amazon and other appropriate retail and distribution channels.
Influencer marketing will be an important part of our growth strategy. During the initial launch, we plan to work with targeted influencers and content creators whose audiences align with specific VioShield applications. Once we begin generating product sales and establishing market traction, we intend to engage a prominent personality in the health and beauty industry to help broaden brand awareness and accelerate consumer adoption.
Our initial customers include consumers interested in skin and beauty, personal wellness, foot and nail care, joint and physical comfort, athletic recovery, and red-light wellness. Because a common platform can support multiple applications, we can potentially address several consumer markets without having to develop an entirely different product for each one.
Regulatory Strategy and Future Markets
Our commercial and regulatory strategies are being pursued in parallel. Initial commercialization will focus on cosmetic and general-wellness applications. VioShield is also planning an FDA 510(k) Class II medical-device submission, providing a potential pathway to appropriate medical applications following regulatory clearance.
Following FDA clearance, we plan to expand into professional channels that could include dermatology practices, physical therapy clinics, medical spas, and other healthcare and wellness providers.
Intellectual Property and Competitive Advantages
Innovation and intellectual property are central to our strategy. VioShield's proprietary foldable architecture is supported by one pending U.S. utility patent application and one U.S. provisional patent application, while Boulderlamp brings a broader portfolio of more than 25 patents and extensive experience developing and commercializing LED technology.
Another major advantage is execution capability. VioShield does not need to build a manufacturing facility, engineering organization, or supply chain from scratch. By leveraging Boulderlamp's existing infrastructure, investment capital can be concentrated on inventory, commercialization, customer acquisition, marketing, regulatory activities, and growth, rather than the substantial infrastructure costs normally associated with an early-stage hardware company.
Team and Experience
VioShield is led by Fazle Quazi, an electrical engineer and physicist with 35 years of experience in product development, manufacturing, and sales and more than 25 patents to his name.
Through Boulderlamp, VioShield benefits from a seasoned multidisciplinary team that includes experienced sales executives, software and hardware engineers, a high-level web developer, a dentist, and a retired CPA. Together, the team brings experience across engineering, manufacturing, sales, digital commerce, finance, healthcare, and product commercialization.
Our Vision
Our long-term objective is to build VioShield into a light-wellness platform company, not simply a single-product company.
We believe the combination of an all-in-one platform approach, hands-free and zero-contact convenience, access to hard-to-reach body areas, multiple health, beauty and wellness applications, nearly a year of beta experience, intellectual property, established U.S. engineering and manufacturing capabilities, and an experienced multidisciplinary team gives VioShield a strong foundation for building a scalable consumer brand.
In simple terms, we are taking the growing science and consumer acceptance of light wellness and making it easier to use—across more parts of the body, for more applications, in a form that fits naturally into everyday life.
