We are a 50+ year old vacuum retailer in our community. We have unique products in our store...ones that you can't find in box stores or department stores. We like these products because they need to be demoed to our customers and when they see a demo, then they want one. After being in business for 30 years (22 for the original store owner) we know many of our customers by name (at least by face!), and we want them to have the best vacuum for their needs.
We have five (5) people who work here...myself, my husband, our older son (40) and our youngest son, (24) and a friend of his. About 3-1/2 years ago, our yongest sons friend said, "You know...if you brought in blinds and shades, I could work here. I would head up that division and get it going for you!" And so, as a result of this comment, I thought we need to get blinds and shades going! And we did! This all sounds good until the customers start going online to shop...which is what they did during COVID and they continued in that thread, which was to our demise. We always thought it would be best to be able to show our customers the benefits of what they were buying...but apparently that's not the case anymore. We also need to update our website so that we can convert it to a purchase website.
About three years ago, our leader, suffered a stroke. She was in the hospital for a month, in ICU for about 3 weeks. She has since fully recovered but those months she was "out of it" and in the hospital or home, dealt a blow to our store. It's not that her husband didn't know what was going on...he did...he just wasn't prepared to cover everything she covered. and stay up-to-date on all of his "stuff."
I guess that's it...we'd really like to stay in business and help more of our community memeber!
