Dear Potential Funder,
My name is Charles R. Cook Jr. I am the CEO and founder of the African American Fine Arts Society (AAFAS). For over 35 years, I’ve been in the business of highlighting the work of local artists, awarding them and educating the surrounding community of their artwork and contributions to the Delaware Valley area.
Educating our communities on African American Art and helping people understand the history of art in the area is very important to me. I think today’s youth are woefully unaware of the artistic greatness that surrounds them. This letter is a respectful request for funding to publish my book titled “Profiles & Vision”, a book which profiles award winning African American artists and award-winning art galleries in the United States and Africa. The second part of this project is to distribute my book in middle and high schools throughout the Delaware Valley.
I also own and operate the Urban Entertainment Business Journal, a publication which covers feature stories in the Delaware Valley area. This new quarterly publication combines three journals; the New Chester Journal, the South Jersey Home Journal and the Matthews Business Journal into one, 24-page publication. My organization, AAFAS, has worked closely with the Art Expo in Philadelphia for more than 25 years. I have worked with the Expo as a judge for several years. I hold a degree in art education, I’ve worked as an art educator and I am also an award-winning artist now residing in New Jersey.
My passion for art has motivated me to create and publish an art news journal titled “Art World Images”, a publication dedicated to introducing new artists and art galleries nationally and internationally. So again, I need funding to publish “Profiles & Vision”, a book that will shine a spotlight on many overlooked artists and open the minds of our young people to art they have never seen before. Thank you for your time.
Best Regards,
Charles Cook Jr.
