UniRides: You Decide Where & We'll Get You There
Who are We?
UniRides is a micro mobility company that brings electric assist bikes and scooters to universities across America.
We are a solid and safe alternative for anyone needing a ride or wanting to explore their environment. Each vehicle has precise geofencing and red zoning that keep riders and the environment safe. They also have speed-limiting capabilities. This is a major factor for safety and also to open up the customer base. For example, while on campus a scooter will have a max speed of 10 MPH, and when the rider leaves campus, the speed limit increases to the city limits. And if a child is riding, the parent can set the max speed they believe is safe for their child; thus, we have options for everyone.
Who are our Customers?
I will start in the city of Starkville, MS, and on Mississippi State University's campus. Our starting population is about 50,000 people. From there we will expand to other universities and cities in the southern states and continue to branch out. The southern region of the US is spread out, making transportation vital, but the public transportation is slow and limited both in operating time, and destination options. So people turn to their cars which produce nearly 70 million metric tons of carbon every year. They are burning holes in their pockets as well as the atmosphere. I see a great opportunity to serve these communities and protect them by helping people travel safely and eco-friendly.
Who are our Competitors?
Besides insufficient public transportation, Bird is a competitor in the south, but they don't adhere to the speed policies of universities, so they aren't allowed on campuses in Mississippi. My advantage is that I listen and adapted, I communicate with universities, and I offer a product that works for them and their environment. No company is targeting educational institutions to the degree that UniRides does.
Why Fund Us?
We are in a unique space of middle markets and university cities that are filled with people wanting a better, cheaper, and more enjoyable way to travel. I have mapped out my business model and shown it to universities and cities to finite what they want in their ecosystems. As a result, I've built relationships with them as well and the students who will benefit from this partnership.
I have met with many manufacturers like Acton, Okai, and Segway, and have chosen the best company that gives me the most versatility, prioritizes safety, and possessed the best technology.
I know there is value in this company, not just because Bird and Lime exist. There is research done in all states that show the benefits of using bikes and scooters over cars, and as a native Mississippian I have the unique advantage of empathizing with Southerns and helping them see the alternate methods. I've been the student without a car who walked 40 minutes home from campus because I had a late lab class. My company offers a fun, safe, and efficient riding option, but it really helps those students who have walked miles in their shoes.
How it Works?
There are Two ways UniRides will generate revenue:
- General public use of vehicles in cities or schools. (B2C)
- Organizations & Institution renting our vehicles and paying monthly. (B2B)
Payment Plans
We offer a Pay-As-You-Go! option and well as three subscription options. In addition, there is a per semester option for enrolled university students.
With each of these plans, customers pay a small unlock fee.
Plan for the future?
The company is headed up. My short-term goals are to start a sample fleet and then a full fleet of scooters and bikes on Mississippi State's campus and in the Starkville area. After 1-2 years of actual business, I hope to have products on 5 college campuses in MS. Then I'll expand to Louisiana and Alabama. And I want to hit large and small colleges and cities. After five years of business, I want to expand beyond the southern states and universities to nonprofit organizations and museums. Of course, UniRides will seek partnerships outside of universities if and when they arise, but our bread and butter is supporting students and their communities.
