My Ulti-Mutt Dog Resort is located in a country setting on 1 acre but 8 minutes to an airport 45 minutes to Napa and Sonoma and 45 Minutes to San Francisco. I will also fundraise for donations for shelters and write to Senator Janet Nguyen and others in politics who are making a difference for our animals and shelter reform.


Introduction

My name is Anna Boucher and I have a vision to offer the Ultimate Doggie Daycare and Boarding in Marin County while also assisting rescues and shelters from those proceeds and fundraising for our most rural shelter. I have been fostering dogs on the euthanasia list for 20 years in order to help save their lives but the number of animals in our shelters are rising not lowering and we need animal advocates to make laws to help make these changes. I have such a beautiful property situated on a flat, fenced and gated one acre that lends itself for this ultimate experience to make my clients and their pets feel loved, pampered and cared for while making a difference for so many dogs that don’t have a home and due to the shelters being filled to capacity are losing their lives daily.

My Team

3 people and manager when fully staffed.

I will have 1 volunteer and 1 paid employee during the daytime and I will be the evening shift person as I live on site. I will have one person to clean the premises at the end of each day. The staff will keep things cleaned during the course of the day.

Problem

The days will be very long days. Daycare will be split up into 2 areas: the front half will have the easier smaller and older and calmer dogs in that group will have 12 to maximum of 15 dogs.

The back half will have the larger dogs. We will try to have one person actually in this space and one person floating between the 2 spaces capable to jump in as needed and that group will have a maximum of 5 dogs so the staffing has to be top notch with years of experience.

Solution

Interview many applicants to get the right team to make sure they work well and have the knowledge and experience.

Business Model

Set pricing that is competitive, offer packages, offer events (i.e. doggie weddings, birthdays, trail walks, pool time, fetching, etc.)
Sell unique products and doggies treats, etc.
Agility courses, Nose work courses, reiki courses, etc.

Competition

The competition doesn’t have a set up like mine, they have mainly large indoor Astro turf experiences and kennels in a warehouse type of atmosphere mine is more like a home away from home with huge play areas.

Vision

My vision is to have the Ulti-Mutt Dog Resort so successful that we have a wait list and are saving animals in the shelters by setting up a foster application hub for the state of California and get our senators involved for shelter reform. I am creating a “think tank” of many who have vision and experience.

Traction

I have the property which is more than half the battle which will have low overhead because this is my personal property and I reside on the property. I have the EIN number, I have a quote for insurance for $2,900 annually and just need to get funding to implement!!

Funding Ask

I am asking for $300,000 which can be secured by a 2nd on my property. I have approximately $900,000-$1,000,000 in equity. 

Projections

My first year conservatively without “extras” would bring in $183,000 Gross. This business has the potential to earn $300,000-$500,000.
