I am seeking an acquisition deal for Twelvemonth Music (twelvemonth.com), the online music education enterprise of which I am the founder and sole creator that is based on acoustic guitar and on innovative notational systems of my own invention. Twelvemonth Music consists of four main components, the first and arguably most important of which (
www.chartsandchords.com) is based on an innovative song charting format that makes it exponentially easier to learn to play popular songs. Included on this website are song charts and chord docs detailing guitar chord fingerings for 120 acoustic guitar classics (the Popular Music Catalog) and for recording-compatible guitar arrangements for a wide variety of popular songs (the 144 song Compatibility Catalog). A second component of Twelvemonth Music (
www.schools.twelvemonth.com ) includes a 251 page manual (Rhythm Guitar) on rhythmic styles of play on acoustic guitar that is based on a guitar notational system (visualinear tablature) I invented more than four decades ago. This website also includes a comprehensive music learning curriculum for schools and individual learners, also based on visualinear tablature, that includes a 231 page manual called Melody Guitar as well as fascinating and eminently useful e-scores for guitar ensemble arrangements of a diverse catalog of music, much of which is already included in school music curricula. A third component of Twelvemonth Music (
www.dlstieg.com ) consists mainly of the 43 albums of music I have recorded, all of which is given in audio format as well as in song chart format, thus making it a very education-oriented musical artist website. The fourth component (Acoustic Guitar Chords) is an innovative 244 page PDF manual that can serve as a highly useful reference tool for all guitarists, but especially for acoustic guitarists.
I have created this considerable body of work over the past 20 years or so despite having minimal technological skill and knowledge, and despite working all the while on a virtually non-existent budget. But now I find that I have neither the financial means nor the marketing wherewithal to take Twelvemonth Music any further, besides which I am 74 years old and I am no longer inclined or physically able to continue devoting myself completely to this enterprise. I am prepared to sell all or any of the components described above, including all rights pertaining thereto, with the understanding that I will also receive royalties on all sales going forward. In truth I believe a complete re-working of the websites would be well-advised in the context of a marketing budget that is substantial enough to popularize the learning materials I have created, but that is not something I could do, nor am I inclined to do (i.e. my websites are very informational but they are admittedly not very effective from a marketing point of view). I envision my role subsequent to an acquisition to be primarily consultative and non-determinative in terms of decision-making, though I would welcome the opportunity to have input on the matter of selecting new songs to produce charts for, or the opportunity to edit the text for Rhythm Guitar in the event that a revised and more professionally produced version is fashioned, or the opportunity to assemble and direct a professional guitar ensemble that could demonstrate and help popularize the enormous potential of guitar ensemble music.
