FOUNDERS
1. Seth B. Kajang (Chief Executive Officer): Has five graduate degrees including one from Yale University. Has worked in various organizations in Nigeria and the United States. Seth has received six academic awards.
2. Abasiano Udofa (Chief Technology Officer/VP Engineering): Has three graduate degrees in Engineering and Business, including one from Oxford University. Has more than fifteen years of work experience as a manager in some top American technology companies.
3. Blessing Adogame (Chief Operating Officer): A graduate of Information Systems, Blessing is an award recipient. Since graduation she has been working with Microsoft as a UX Product Manager.
VISION & MISSION
Vision: Tuwanx is a content (image, video, PDF) sharing social media platform which exists to democratize creativity and incentivize creators in tangible ways in the global community, especially among people that are talented but receive little or no rewards for their efforts.
Mission: Tuwanx’s mission is to democratize and commercialize creativity and innovation. As a free social media platform, Tuwanx seeks to encourage the idea of creativity and generosity among people whose talents are yet to be known in the world.
1. As a social media, Tuwanx aims to make creativity simple, easy, and fun. People can share their gifts and talents with the world in video, image, and PDF format in an enjoyable, fun, and contextual fashion. Doing so will potentially generate tangible and concrete tips, donations, and contributions either immediately or later.
2. As a free online platform that encourages creativity, Tuwanx hopes to bridge the gap between celebrity culture and ordinary “raw” talents that are yet uncovered. Tuwanx will make it possible for less known people to have the courage to share their talents with the world knowing that there is a potential (and sometimes immediate) reward. This unique feature encourages benevolence and increases user participation.
3. As an entrepreneurial social media, Tuwanx seeks to work toward poverty eradication among the less privileged members of the society by encouraging them to put their gifts on the table and hope that someone will be touched to support them to achieve their vision and goals. We at Tuwanx believe in the goodness of humanity. We believe that humans have a desire to help others to succeed. Sharing your gifts and talents with the world makes this possible.
PROBLEM
We have observed three major problems with contemporary social media which we intend to solve:
First, why wouldn’t creators receive immediate rewards and recognition for their creativity and hard work until they have succeeded in garnering a certain number of followers/subscribers, which often appears to be a herculean task, and so discourages efforts? There is a need for a platform for creators without any such restrictions. A platform that will make it possible for creators and innovators to receive immediate recognition and reward from those who benefit from their efforts.
Second, the idea that creativity is limited to a select few is elusive and misleading. In most social media platforms, there is an underlining ideology that a few people create for the rest of the world to consume. They are the 1%. But wouldn’t it be a better world if all of us realize that we can create something remarkable and share with the rest of the world? That way, we can solve most of the problems that confront our communities and the world at large.
Third, sometimes one comes across certain content online and experiences goosebumps because of its value and wishes that there is a way they could reward the creators in concrete, meaningful way (not just by liking their post or leaving a nice comment). But most of the popular social media do not have such provisions. Wouldn’t it be a game changer for creators to realize that there is a platform that allows those who benefit from their content to support them in tangible ways as a way of encouraging them to keep on with the good work? This way, creators don’t have to rely on the decision of social media owners to reward them. They don’t have to meet certain criteria to receive rewards. They may join a platform today (with zero followers/subscribers) and start getting rewarded immediately for their content. Their followers, admirers, and beneficiaries decide that, not the owners of the platform. This is the backdrop against which the idea of Tuwanx was conceived.
TARGET AUDIENCE
1. Unemployed High School and College Graduates: There are over 2 billion High School and College graduates in the world, most of whom live in developing countries, struggling to find jobs and something meaningful to do with their lives. Tuwanx gives them the opportunity to share their talents and receive concrete rewards.
2. Creators: All kinds of creators—from dancers to authors to skit makers to educationists to entertainers to media enthusiasts—will find Tuwanx beneficial to promote their content. Whatever talents you have, in so far as it does not constitute harm to others, it is welcome on the platform.
3. Experts: People who have specialized gifts and want to share their knowledge with the world.
4. Those Who Want to Start a Business but Don’t Have the Necessary Support: Tuwanx will incorporate a crowdfunding spirit in its DNA. In other words, people who want to contribute something remarkable to the world but don’t have the means can create an account and raise funds on the platform.
5. Mavericks and Non-conformists: People who are tired of the modus operandi of the giant social media platforms and want something out of the ordinary may find Tuwanx as something refreshingly new.
6. Celebrities: Celebrities and influencers can use Tuwanx to expand their influence in the world.
7. Crypto Enthusiasts: There is no doubt that cryptocurrency has come to stay. By interweaving components of social media with cryptocurrency (NFTs and crypto payment systems), Tuwanx exposes users to blockchain technology in a simply and fun way that avoids all the complexities.
FEATURES
1. Sign In: Users can sign in by creating a Profile using their Email, Facebook, or Twitter accounts.
2. User Profile: First and Last Name, Date of Birth, Location, Languages, Interests, Profile Picture. Only a person’s name and profile picture will be displayed publicly.
3. Post: Users can post their video or Image in the space where this question appears: What Have You Got?
a. Posts must be original. Original videos and images can be edited directly on the platform.
b. Tuwanx has a video editor embedded in the App. This has the following unique features:
i. A cropping mechanism (easy, quick, and fun)
ii. An animation mechanism that allows users to change the nature of images. For instance, a video portraying humans can be changed to animation while retaining the original audio.
iii. An edit mechanism that allows viewers to add certain effects to the quality of their videos
c. Several images (excluding pictures) can be uploaded on the platform. Since the aim is to promote creativity, personal or family pictures will not be allowed on the platform. But photographers can upload pictures (based on certain requirements) to showcase their art and creativity.
4. Search Button: Users can search for specific names or contents using key words. They can also search by what is trending or popular on the platform.
5. Text Limit: Since this is strictly a video/image sharing platform, the text limit (including hashtags) to caption any post is 100 characters.
6. Response: Other users can respond to posts through:
a) Likes
b) Donate Button: This allows users to donate money to their favorite creators using their card, PayPal, or cryptocurrency (Bitcoin or Ethereum) for a specific content. The money is securely stored in the user's wallet.
c) Share Button: Users can share content on different platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, or Twitter
7. Non-fungible Token (NFT): At the point of sharing content on Tuwanx, users choose whether they want to make a general post for free (and expect monetary donations from it) or list their post as an NFT for others to buy. This feature is one of the things that makes Tuwanx unique. The NFTs are stored on the Ethereum network.
8. Suggested for You: Based on user’s interests and activity, the algorithm autogenerates and recommends possible content of interest.
9. Follow Button: Users can hit a button to follow content creators
10. User Wallet: A user wallet can store fiat currency and cryptocurrencies. Users can choose to connect their Crypto Wallet at the point of creating an account if they wish to receive tips and donations based on their content. Tips and money accrued from sales of NFTs go into a user’s wallet after a 5% automatically deduction from every donation/transaction. Money stored in the wallet can be withdrawn at the minimum of $100, anytime.
COMPETITORS
1. Facebook: Tuwanx is different from Facebook in the sense that Facebook is basically a social network while Tuwanx is a platform for creators and innovators.
2. YouTube: YouTube only rewards a small percentage of its users who have met certain criteria. It pays such creators directly. Tuwanx allows anyone to donate directly to the creator. There are no any restrictions for earning, whatsoever.
3. Instagram: Instagram thrives on picture sharing and selfies. No pictures are allowed on Tuwanx, though photographers are encouraged to showcase their talent by uploading their work as images or videos.
4. Tik Tok: Tuwanx allows users to post content as NFTs but TikTok does not.
5. Twitter: Twitter is known for text, Tuwanx thrives on videos and images.
6. OpenSea: OpenSea is strictly an NFT platform while Tuwanx incorporates social media with NFTs
7. FanBase: Fanbase is a social media for creators, but it does not use NFTs and the blockchain technology
TRACTION
1. Landing Page: The landing page (tuwanx.com) is active.
2. The MVP: Work on frontend and backend is ongoing. We are hoping to release the MVP sometime in late summer or early fall 2022.
3. The App: The App will be launched on Android (Play Store) and IOS (Apple Store) when work is completed, bugs are tested, and fixed.
3. Whitepaper: There is a 12 page Tuwanx Whitepaper (see attachment here or refer to landing page to download).
4. Advertisement and Downloads: After the App is launched, there will be several Ads and campaigns to attract millions of downloads
FUNDING
We are seeking a pre-seed funding of five million dollars ($5000000) from Angel Investors (or Venture Capitalists) for a successful launch in the summer/fall of 2022. W hope to use part of the money to:
1. Hire two or three engineers
2. Engage in massive advertisement campaigns
3. Pay salaries
4. Improve the quality of our products and services
MONETIZATION
The following will be the initial Business Model on Tuwanx:
1. E-Commerce/Marketplace: While some users may share their content for free and expect to receive generous donations, others may choose to exclusively list their content as NFTs for sale. Whichever way, Tuwanx will always retain 5% from every donation or sale on the platform.
2. Consumer Audience Building/Advertising: Aside from the money generated through donations and purchases (5%), a lot of effort will be placed on the company becoming sticky. As soon as we have good traction, we will open the App up for paid advertising.
PROJECTIONS
Before launching in the Summer/Fall of 2022, we will work closely with a few celebrities mostly from Nigeria and the United States to help publicize the launch on their social media on a specific week. We already have a few contacts of those celebrities are open to the idea, pending negotiations.
1. We are projecting a million downloads and user engagement in the first two to three months after launch.
2. We project that from the first day of its launch we will start receiving income through the donations and transactions on the platform.
3. We Project an income of $10,000,0000 (or more) within the first year, if all things go as planned
