The Wild Rose Tearoom is the only full-service Tea Establishment in Northern Wyoming. The Tearoom will be celebrating its 2-year anniversary this week. As a Certified Tea Specialist, Certified Tea Professional, Certified Tea Health Expert, and Certified Tea Sommelier, The Wild Rose Tearoom was created to bring education and the experience of tea and its related information, to community and region that is deficit in its knowledge. Tea is a vehicle to bring people together, spend quality time to connect, and enjoy a quiet repose from rigors of life. The Tearoom provides a calm and serene atmosphere where guests are able to relax and step out of time for a while. The Tearoom services customers of all ages, from 6-106. Business professionals claim this can't be, and that it is important to establish a "target range" for the business, however, because of the range of services the Tearoom offers, it truly is possible to cater to a wide range of customers. Guests to the Tearoom are not only local, but from all around the state of Wyoming, and, since tourism is a huge driver for our local economy, we have guests from all over the world.
Our Dining Room services include Afternoon Tea, a 5-course English Style Tea, including Salad, Soup, variety of Savories, Scones, Sweets, and three kinds of tea to pair with the courses. Elevenses is a light lunch, consisting of Salad, Soup, Scone, Sweet, and a 16oz pot of tea. Cream Tea is a 16 oz pot of tea, and fresh-baked Scone. This summer we will be offering a new service of Charcuterie and Tea, a dynamic offering of a variety of meats, cheeses, fruits, jams, and sweets. Our Tea Bar service include to-go Teas, Boba, Fruit Puree, Scones, and other baked goods. Our Tea Accessories include an assortment of tea-related accoutrements, and the Tea Vault carries our own line of 60+ Premium Loose-Leaf Teas, CHARLEĆ Fine Teas, and a modest assortment of single Apothecary Herbs. Our Core Team includes me and 3 other adult females who share the responsibilities of the store's operations. I have the primary responsibility of preparing the foods for service. Summertime brings an additional crew of 3 student-age employees, in order to accommodate the increased volume of guests. One of my goals is to provide employment for young teens just entering the workforce, so that they are provided with a positive work experience in a fun and exciting establishment. Last year, I hired a 14-year-old teen, who's desire is to have his own bakery soon after graduating from school. He has won many 1st place and Grand Champion awards at the local level, and State Fairs in Wyoming, with his cake decorating skills, as well as livestock management. He was included in food preparation and guest services at the Tearoom. This year, he is returning with the promise from me of learning the business side of running the Tearoom. Secretly, I would love for him to take over the tearoom when he finishes school! Though the Tearoom is successful, with sales the past year of over $67K, the start-up costs, and the costs of daily business are placing the Tearoom in peril. An original bank loan of $30K is now at $14K, an additional bank loan of $15K is now at $12K. The business at this time is generating just enough to cover monthly expenses and labor costs. All purchases for this year have had to be put on credit, to the tune of $14K, most of which I have been able to move to zero % interest. The Tearoom has become a very important establishment for our community, and simply must stay in place. Thank you for any consideration for funding.
