My partner and I are looking to fundraise money to acquire a space for animals that have been lost, dumped, abandoned, abused and need help healing. We found a puppy and she’s incredibly sweet and seems to fit perfectly into everything we do throughout our days. She’s been able to come to work with us, go on hikes with us, eat with us and even watch tv with us. She’s been a joy to have around so we’ve decided because no one stepped forward to claim her we kept her, named her Rylie River and made her apart of our family. This entire situation has truly opened our eyes and inspired us. For years we’ve been finding and saving dogs on the streets, some we’ve been able to reunite with their owners but others have had to be taken to shelters due to medical problems we weren’t able to accommodate at the time or just because life was so busy for us and we didn’t have the time, space or funds to properly care for them ourselves. Having to take them to the shelter was extremely frustrating and very discouraging. We felt limited to how much we could help the animals and it started weighing on our shoulders because there was so much more we wanted to do but just couldn’t.
Thankfully, this situation has showed us that life has changed a bit and we’re now able to place more of our attention on rescuing, rehoming and healing the animals we find. With that being said, we’ve decided to open our own rescue The Rylie River Foundation to home for animals who need a second chance! We know this is a big responsibility and while we are extremely excited to get everything up and running, we also know there’s still a lot to learn.
After finding Rylie we had to relocate as they didn’t accommodate dogs where we were living at the time. We moved in with family and at this space there was a dog living in the backyard infested with ticks, fleas, spiders, roaches, and even rats. We knew even though we werent completely satisfied with the space we had to do something for this baby in the backyard. We moved in and got to work on the backyard right away. We hired someone to come help us clean it up, we hauled away so much trash and debris. We bathed the dog we found in the yard named “Rock”. The condition the yard was in and the condition he was in he truly is a strong, overcoming Rockstar! We pulled each tick off of him one by one. We spent days feeding him 3 times a day as he was only being fed occasionally. We walked him daily and ran with him. He’s showing so many signs of recovery and true appreciation for everything we’ve done for him. Unfortunately, as time goes by we’re realizing how affected our animals and ourselves are being in a space where everyone isn’t being welcomed equally. We know its important to the well being of all our animals to have a space that they can call their own and be comfortable in without fear.
We ask for this funding to purchase a piece of land to build a forever space to any animal going through a difficult situation. A place where animals won’t be killed or mistreated. A space where we can daily care for all animals that need us and instill hope into the hopeless. We currently have 4 dogs and 4 cats on our property and are being contacted daily by animals that need us. So please, if you find it in your heart to invest in us we truly know you won’t be disappointed. Our animals and us will be forever grateful. If you made it this far in our post, thank you!
