THE PRIVILEGE IS MINE is an alternative wedding planning collective based in New York City. It was founded in 2016, six months after planning my wedding, and feeling like hiring a wedding planner meant we needed to have a $100,000 budget.
I was having a hard time finding a non- weddingy, wedding planner, someone who would work alongside me, advocate for mine and my (now) husband's outside-of-the-box ideas, someone who wouldn't judge our budget, instead help us to navigate the wedding industry with what we were working with, I wanted someone who felt like a friend. After I got married I started THE PRIVILEGE IS MINE with this vision in mind.
Imagine working with a wedding planner that was more like a friend, someone who knew the wedding industry and could help advocate for OUR ideas, someone who was inclusive, fun, creative, and collaborative, and someone who works with their couples without judgment. This is who THE PRIVILEGE IS MINE is, and our mission is to provide wedding planning services for EVERYONE, no matter your budget, your gender, your religion, or your sexual preference. We are now a team of planners, who work with about 60 couples a year, but we want to take things to the next level.
In May 2020 when everyone was in lockdown, I created a remote branch of THE PRIVILEGE IS MINE called TPIM ONLINE, these are remote, accessible packages that are a monthly commitment. During the height of the pandemic, we were working with couples on a month-by-month base, offering virtual meetings, and remote wedding planning. These packages are still going strong and would like to make this planning option an app.
We want our couples to have the TPIM experience at their fingertips where they have all our resources and access to our planners to video call and text directly through the app.
This is just another way to make wedding planning accessible to everyone.
We work with fun, creative New Yorkers who are young professionals who are busy and are knee deep in the NY hustle and so we feel like offering this option can make their process easy by having their planner at their fingertips. Not to mention working with their planner where ever they are in the world.
As I mentioned, we do about 60 weddings a year, we know this industry, and have wonderful contacts and clients and vendors alike who could advocate for us and our mission.
