This begs the question: Will we, on our death bed, look back and give thanks for a life well lived or will we feel the excruciating pain of regret having squandered our own lives?
This is the dilemma of the world today. And this is the dilemma at the heart of The Insurance Man. A person who sells insurance door to door but doesn’t fulfill him as a businessman nor as a human being. He sees himself more as a friendly shoulder for his clients, people with numerous problems – isolation, depression, diabetes, breast cancer, and so on and getting side-tracked by their stories he doesn’t make sales as he should. On this day, the last day of the month, he’s fired - over the phone.
SYNOPSIS The film takes place over the course of a day in the life of Carlo Miranda. A middle-aged man, from Spain, working as an insurance salesperson at The Great American Road Insurance Company in the Hudson Valley, Upstate NY. A loving and compassionate man, he is a seller of insurance policies by necessity, while his life (for a long time) has become a series of unfulfilled dreams. Every day, Carlo must deal with the clash between his obligation to provide for his ex-wife and son while pursuing what would be his passion.
DEVELOPMENTWe are filmmakers privileged to be living and working in the beautiful Mid-Hudson Valley region of upstate New York. As with our last film, Three Sides of a Circle, we are blessed to be receiving invaluable help, once again, from our community for The Insurance Man. This assistance is taking many forms such as Multiple filming locations, cars from local dealers and supporters for specific scenes, motorcycle school, and a motorcycle for a specific character, and collaboration with local artists and community volunteers for every aspect of production.
This support, together with the dedication of our talented cast and crew, is bringing us one step closer to our goal of making The Insurance Man an inspiring and transformational high production value film on an Ultra Low Budget.
Note: As per Sag-Aftra any production with a maximum of US$300,000.00 budget is considered an Ultra-Low-Budget Production Miraculously we have everything in place except the modest amount of money needed to start filming. And this is where your investment can make a difference:
We need $300,000 and here is where the funds will go to:
• Payment for Cast & Crew, Writer, Director, and Producers
• Lodging
• Craft Services
• Equipment rental (accepted by Netflix, Hulu, and Apple)
• Insurance
• Lawyers
• Accountants
• Licenses and Contracts
• Office Management
• Promotions
• Festivals
Our world is rapidly changing which gives us all an amazing opportunity to change life for the better. The entertainment industry plays a huge role in influencing behavior, sometimes for the better, and sometimes not. Our mission with The Insurance Man is to empower all of us to be co-creators of the kind of world we want to live in: Collaborative, kind, and connected.
