The Bass Shed Academy is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to fostering the knowledge of the double bass and the electric bass. Through private instruction, concerts, recitals, and masterclasses; The Bass Shed Academy is devoted to advancing the craft and artistry of all bassists.
My name is Ryan Roberts, the founder of The Bass Shed Academy, a nonprofit institution for aspiring and advanced bass players, and host of The Bass Shed Podcast which has gained global recognition in over 100 countries.
The Bass Shed Academy offers personalized lessons, interactive workshops, and masterclasses with industry experts. Our mission is to empower students of all levels to achieve their musical potential, develop their unique voice, and thrive in the world of music.
The Bass Shed Academy is dedicated to the active preservation and promotion of cultural and musical heritage. We strive to elevate and maintain its impact and relevance in today's society.
o As part of our efforts to sustain that, we've worked in partnership with Kahuna Cares and OC bridges and organized music appreciation workshops for adults with special needs.
o We regularly offer free in person workshops and life streaming programs to help artists develop and showcase their talents. Moreover, we not only promote local artists but also attract audiences from the wider community, fostering a rich cultural environment.
o The latest bass workshop was hosted by Erik Kertes a songwriter, producer, arranger, composer, upright and electric bassist, that has touring with Shakira and Michael Buble discussed bass playing, songwriting, production and how the characteristics of a bassist translate to each disciple. A great resource for musicians of all levels.
o We are preparing to release Volume 1 of a book of transcriptions of some of the most legendary and culturally impactful songs that Jerry Jemmott the renowned bassist played with Erna and Aritha Franklin, B. B. King, King Curtis, Kingpins, Nina Simone and others, this project has a special personal meaning to our organization in addition to the huge cultural and musical impact on today's musical expression of all genres.
o Beginning in August of 2024, The Bass Shed Academy and Collage a 501c3 venue dedicated to art and culture, in San Pedro, CA, are launching an exclusive workshop residency designed for bassists of all skill levels.
