Americans for Judicial Accountability: A Call for Transparency and Reform

At Americans for Judicial Accountability (AJA), we are committed to driving meaningful change in both our state and federal judiciary. As a newly established 501c3 nonprofit, our mission is to bring transparency and accountability to a system that has operated for far too long without adequate oversight. The judiciary is a cornerstone of our democracy. However, as often seen nationwide, the judiciary lacks the mechanisms needed to hold bad actors accountable and ensure justice is served impartially, regardless of status. The spread of AJA has been ensured by the success of Texans for Judicial Accountability (TJA) which has made serious inroads into the consciousness of the Texas legislature.  The result has been numerous judicial accountability bills being introduced for the 2025 legislative session.

TJA’s accomplishments—garnering bipartisan support, collaborating with judges and legislators, and achieving the visibility it has in just over a year with minimal funding and a small team of volunteers—have sparked interest from a number of states seeking similar efforts in their own judiciaries and legislative bodies.  To meet this demand, securing funding is crucial for extending these efforts into additional states.

Why Now?

Recent legislative sessions across the country have introduced promising bills, but they fall short of the comprehensive reform needed. Public awareness of systemic issues within the judiciary is growing, making this the opportune moment to act. We aim to support and effectively advance these efforts by advocating for profound and lasting reforms.

Our Mission

At AJA/TJA, we have a clear and focused mission:

  1. Educate: Raise public awareness about the pressing issues within our judiciary and the need for transparency.
  2. Advocate: Push for legislative and systemic changes that hold judges and other judicial actors accountable.
  3. Implement: Establish processes and systems that ensure ongoing accountability and transparency in the judiciary.
Our team is comprised of everyday Texans, and soon, we hope to welcome members from across the nation, who share a deep commitment to justice and reform. With experienced leadership, including Executive Director Jennifer Lundy and a dedicated Board of Directors, we are ready to meet this challenge.

Why Invest?

Investing in AJA is an investment in the future of our nation and society. Your support will enable us to expand our advocacy efforts, engage with lawmakers, and educate the public. Together, we can build a judiciary that is transparent, accountable, and fair for all. We are making this a reality in Texas.  With your help, we will bring this mission to your state.
