My name is Cory Joseph and me and my wife Leah just signed a leased that we spent 8 months negotiating to open a roller-skating rink in Lakewood, CA in August/September of this year. We are seeking investors who would like to assist with our start-up cost which include our Letter of Credit and Build-Out cost.
The leasing partnership is with Macerich who the largest retail mall leasing agency in the US. The 34,000 square foot existing free-standing building will serve as a great home for the new rink as it sits on 27 acres of mall property with anchor tenant such as Target, Costco, Ulta, Best Buy, Home Depot, and many others. The leasing company sees our rink as an opportunity to provide an activity for people in the surrounding communities which is affordable and nostalgic to adults, and trending for kids. With 150,000 kids inside a 5-mile radius of the rink, we understand our demographics and we plan to create partnerships with local elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, and colleges to share our fundraising packages, as well as our general admission services.
Services that we will provide to our customers are the following:
- After School Skate Special
- We will offer fundraising opportunities for schools, and local organizations at 40% of each ticket sold.
- Monthly and Annual memberships
- Private party and event rooms to accommodate small and large groups of people as well as celebrities and companies.
- State of the art smart lockers to secure personal belongings.
- Vetted and crowd controlled based security firm with over 20 years of experience.
- Expedited check-in and payment portal to reduce entry time and extend skating time.
We plan to offer full time positions with paid benefits as well as part time positions with tuition reimbursement for those in college or a trade school. We also plan on hosting a summer school where we teach financial literacy, emotional intelligence, and growth mindset development for kids 10-14 years of age.
This has been my dream since I was 5 years old as my mom and dad both were professional roller-skaters. For the last 17 years I have owned and operated a gym in Long Beach where I train adults and also run a Sports Academy for young athletes looking to pursue college and professional sports careers.
